The right pieces & the right prices: that’s Bloor & Better, and what you’ll find at Nirvana Home Collection on the concourse level at Manulife Centre.
We met up with Vice President, Rishi Aggarwal, in the modern mid-century furniture store to have a look at what he’s showcasing for 2015, and talk about how he’d dress up a bachelor unit in 44 Charles Street, the rental residence above us.
Sleep small.
King beds don’t exactly work in a bachelor apartment, but you can still sleep like royalty on a double Tempur-Pedic® mattress. As for the frame, Rishi recommends this Canadian-made one with built-in storage to maximize floor space. (Incidentally, the interior designers at 44 Charles chose Tempur-Pedic® mattresses from Nirvana for their guest suite beds).
If you need more space, you can opt for a sofa bed that gives you the feeling of a high-end queen but doubles as a sitting area. And if you’re looking for new sheets to go with your new bed, head around the corner to Gobelins Fine Linens.
Go glass.
If you can keep them clean and relatively uncluttered, a glass table goes a long way to give the illusion of more space — and when space is at a premium, the more you think you have, the better off you are. We looked at glass coffee tables, consoles and nightstands, but by far the coolest piece was a glass breakfast table Rishi would put near the window to enjoy a leisurely weekend brunch.
Sit smartly.
In a small space, you don’t have a lot of room for accents, so you have to choose wisely. Rishi showed us a few of Nirvana’s stylish accent chairs; excellent for bachelor residents who like to host, and especially excellent when you can accent the accent with a few custom throw cushions (you pick the fabric and they’ll do the rest).
The one thing.
We asked Rishi what he’d put in every Charles Street suite if he could, bachelor or otherwise. Without hesitation, he pointed to the Koncept Equo Lamp. Perfect for any-sized space, the Koncept Equo is maneuverable, self-adjustable and complements any style of décor.
Whether you have 300 or 3,000 square feet to fill, you’ll find something fabulous at Nirvana — the home of comfort & style at Bloor & Better.
